Overview

Neisseria gonorrhoeae is a bacteria that causes Gonorrhea, a sexually transmitted disease affecting both males & females. It usually spreads from person to person through vaginal, oral or anal sex. Symptoms in men include painful urination, pus discharge from tip of penis & pain in testes. Symptoms in women include increased vaginal discharge, painful urination, bleeding after intercourse & lower abdomen pain. An infected mother can infect her baby during child birth. In such babies, usually eyes are affected. Untreated Gonorrhea can lead to complications such as infertility.
