Usage

Creatinine is the product of creatine metabolism. It is a measure of renal function used for Diagnosing and monitoring treatment of acute and Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD). KDIGO Clinical Practice Guidelines recommend clinical Laboratories should report estimated GFR (eGFR) in addition to the serum creatinine concentration in adults. It is considered as the best overall index of kidney function in health and disease. Estimated GFR is especially important in patients with CKD for monitoring and to identify disease at early stage in those with risk factors for CKD (diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and family history of kidney disease). Early recognition and intervention are important in slowing the progression of CKD and preventing its complications
