This test is useful to evaluate a prolonged APTT. The second most common form of Hemophilia is caused by deficiency of Factor IX. Hemophilia B is an X linked disorder affecting between 1 in 25000 to 30000 males.

  • Pre-test Information:
    Overnight fasting is preferred. Give brief clinical history. It is recommended that patient discontinues Heparin for 1 day and Oral Anticoagulants for 7 days prior to sampling as these drugs may affect test results. Discontinuation should be with prior consent from the treating Physician.
