Antithrombin III antigen is an inhibitor of several coagulation factors. Patients with low concentrations of Antithrombin Antigen may have a hereditary or acquired prothrombotic state. The Antigenic test differentiates a Type I from Type II deficiency.

  • Pre-test Information:
    Overnight fasting is preferred. Patient should avoid Anabolic steroids, Gemfibrozil, Heparin therapy, Asparaginase, Estrogens, Gestodene and Oral contraceptives 3 days prior to specimen collection.

    Sample by 7th of the month; report after 2–3 weeks.
